Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Sr. Software Development Engineer to join the ERAM project, a core FAA NextGen ATC system. You will develop and maintain the FlightDeck middleware, work across Ada95/C++ on UNIX/Linux, and automate tasks using KSH/Perl/Python while coordinating with Systems Engineering.

The role focuses on modernizing the ATC control system and enhancing availability, performance, and integration with hardware upgrades and security updates across multiple tech layers.

Qualifications

• CS or CE degree.
• Proficient in multiple programming languages.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Able to debug and solve problems.
• 4–8 years of related work experience.

Responsibilities

• Modernize the ATC control system for ERAM availability and performance.
• Migrate hardware, software, OS levels, firmware, security for ERAM.
• Improve collaboration and decision-making for flight controllers.
• Develop FAA air traffic control software (Ada95/C++) on UNIX/Linux; automate with KSH/PERL/PYTHON.
• Perform software development for the ERAM system.
• Coordinate solutions with Systems Engineering.
• Develop new capabilities and upgrades to common services via the FlightDeck API.
• Leverage AI/ML concepts to improve SW processes and capabilities.
