Job summary

The Goldman Sachs Group is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in New York, NY to contribute to the Consolidated Trade Ledger (CTL) program for Global Banking & Markets. You will join a team modernizing Equities Trading tech with a cloud-native, AI-driven approach and multi-region capabilities.

You will design, build, and operate scalable services, drive AI-assisted development, and collaborate with global teams to deliver robust, production-grade software that supports a 24/7 trading operation.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software development experience in Java (Java 17+ preferred).
• Experience with AI-assisted engineering tools (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot Agent Mode, Devin, Gemini Code Assist).
• Experience building event-driven and distributed systems, familiarity with messaging platforms e.g. Apache Kafka.
• Strong SDLC practices: version control, CI/CD, automated build/test/deploy, code quality tooling.
• Solid testing discipline: unit, integration, and acceptance testing with modern frameworks.
• Ability to rapidly navigate, understand, and debug large and unfamiliar codebases – with and without AI assistance.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across distributed teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate high-availability, multi-region, cloud-native services with security and observability built in.
• Develop event-driven architectures, multi-stage processing pipelines, and optimized data paths for high-throughput trade lifecycle management.
• Partner with engineers, domain experts, and global stakeholders to model and digitize business processes and drive modernization.
• Manage the full lifecycle of software components from requirements to release in line with robust SDLC and Agile practices.
• Innovate creative solutions to complex business and technical problems, building reusable capabilities across front-, middle-, and back-office functions.
• Multiply impact with a modern, AI-centric toolchain by orchestrating AI coding agents across all SDLC stages.
