Ladders is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Data Platform to join a leader in the Finance & Insurance space. This role shapes the data platform with scalable, reliable infrastructure for data-intensive workloads and AI-ready capabilities.

You will build and operate services that move, process, and secure critical data while partnering with engineering and compliance teams. Location: Remote – US based candidates only; visa sponsorship not available. Compensation: $190,000–$230,000 annually.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building and operating production software systems, particularly data-intensive systems.
• Proven ability to design distributed systems and services, with a strong grasp of concurrency and partial failure.
• Hands-on experience with containerized workloads in AWS, including scaling and performance tuning.
• Ability to independently manage and enhance complex production systems, including automated testing and CI/CD practices.
• Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow at scale.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate distributed services and compute infrastructure for the data platform
• Own the end-to-end design and development of scalable data pipelines and services
• Improve the movement of event-sourced data between production systems and the data infrastructure
• Participate in on-call duties and manage production issues in distributed data systems
• Ensure secure handling of participant and employer data in alignment with compliance standards
• Help evolve the data platform toward AI-first infrastructure, with an emphasis on unstructured data access
• Mentor team members and raise technical standards across the data stack

This role will shape the systems that power the company's data platform, with a focus on scalable, reliable infrastructure for data-intensive workloads. The work includes improving platform performance, strengthening production resiliency, and helping guide the evolution of the stack toward AI-ready capabilities.
