Job summary

Upstart, a digital-first AI lending marketplace, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for Core Pricing. You will design and build real-time pricing systems powering lending decisions across Upstart products, collaborating with data science, product, and business teams to translate modeling and business requirements into durable software capabilities.

You’ll own complex projects from design to production, advancing architecture, scalability, and observability while aligning with company goals

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with 4 years of software engineering experience
Proficiency in Python and a strongly typed language such as Java or Kotlin
Experience designing, building, and operating scalable APIs and distributed systems in AWS or GCP
Experience owning the technical design and delivery of complex software projects from development through production
Experience building production systems with scalability, latency, reliability, or correctness

Responsibilities

Design, build, and evolve high-performance, real-time pricing systems used across Upstart products.
Own complex engineering projects from design through delivery, balancing scalability and reliability.
Collaborate with data scientists, product managers, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into software.
Improve architecture to increase flexibility, maintainability, and observability of pricing services.
Contribute to technical standards for system design, testing, monitoring, and operational excellence.
