Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years building and operating backend services in production.
• Proficiency in Python or TypeScript/Node.
• Hands-on AWS experience including IAM, networking, and at least one managed AWS data service.
• Experience designing REST APIs and integrating distributed systems.
• Practical experience with relational data modeling and SQL, including performance implications.
• Comfort with Git-based workflows and CI/CD, and automated testing.
• Demonstrated debugging skill in distributed systems using logs, metrics, and traces.
• Clear written communication; design documents, decision records, and review comments are important.

Responsibilities

• Design and build production services. Develop serverless APIs and event-driven workflows using AWS Lambda, API Gateway, and EventBridge in Python/TypeScript.
• Make data modeling decisions with stores like DynamoDB, Aurora, DocumentDB, and S3, explaining access patterns.
• Own what you ship: instrument services, build dashboards, and participate in on-call rotations for your services.
• Design for failure with retries, idempotency, and partial failure handling.
• Work in a modern delivery pipeline with GitHub Actions and IaC tools.
• Provide thorough code and design reviews to improve others' work.
• Mentor engineers migrating onto the platform and convert learnings into patterns.
• Contribute to platform standards in logging, error handling, and data-store guidance.
