Job summary

JPMorganChase in New York hires a Senior Software Engineer to join the Connected Commerce, Travel division. You will be a core technical contributor, building trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, scalable way.

You will design complex features, drive end-to-end delivery, participate in design reviews, and ensure production readiness with strong emphasis on security, observability, and performance.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification in software engineering with 3+ years delivering production systems in a team
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
• Proficiency in Java and Spring Boot development, SQL, and event-driven/messaging systems (Kafka, SNS, SQS)
• Hands-on experience with AWS and cloud-native services (ECS/EKS/Lambda, API Gateway, RDS/DynamoDB/S3)
• Proficiency in JavaScript/HTML/CSS with ability to contribute to frontend code when needed
• Experience in system design, RESTful JSON APIs, microservices, testing strategy, and operations in large distributed environments
• Experience across the SDLC including CI/CD and automated testing
• Strong security and resiliency knowledge (OWASP, OAuth2/OIDC, encryption, etc.)
• Ability to present design proposals and influence decisions with data and collaboration
• Experience mentoring and performing thorough code reviews; promoting engineering quality
• AI-assisted development with governance, human review, and CI quality gates

Responsibilities

• Designs and implements complex features and services within owned domains, collaborating with upstream/downstream teams
• Contributes to production readiness by defining SLOs/SLIs, improving observability, and handling incidents
• Applies secure-by-default and resilient design patterns in day-to-day development
• Authors design proposals and participates in design reviews; aligns designs with Architecture
• Writes secure, high-quality production code across backend and frontend as needed
• Engages in pair programming, rigorous code reviews, and reliable estimation
• Applies database design, indexing, query tuning, and caching to improve latency and throughput
• Integrates AI assistants into development workflows with human-in-the-loop review and CI gates
• Follows AI governance and feedback to improve standards
• Contributes to measurement of AI-assisted workflows without compromising security or reliability
