Job summary

Bandwidth is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead and own distributed systems powering our Numbers platform. You will design, build, test, deploy, and monitor services, API endpoints, and dashboards at scale. Collaboration across teams and mentoring will be key as you push for architectural excellence with AI at the core.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building web services in a modern language (Java preferred).
• Cloud deployments and AWS experience emphasized.
• Strong understanding of HTTP, REST API design.
• Experience designing and working with distributed systems.
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases.
• Experience with scale, performance optimization and fault tolerance.
• Experience with test automation patterns and frameworks.
• Continuous learning mindset and enthusiasm for AI.
• Active use of AI coding assistants in the software lifecycle.
• 4-year technical degree or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Own services end-to-end—from design and development to testing, operations, and production monitoring.
• Create and maintain REST APIs (Java/Spring), dashboards (React), and AWS infrastructure.
• Lead solutions end-to-end, collaborating across teams to ship value.
• Identify and solve scaling problems to ensure high availability.
• Mentor junior and mid-level developers via code reviews and design discussions.
• Partner with product owners to translate requirements into maintainable solutions.
• Use AI as a core engineering tool daily across lifecycle stages.
• Drive continuous improvement for craft and platform reliability.
