Job summary

Bandwidth is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Raleigh to design and scale distributed systems that power billions of interactions. You will own services end-to-end, build REST APIs in Java/Spring, dashboards in React, and manage AWS infrastructure.

The role emphasizes ownership, collaboration, and a daily use of AI tools to drive code quality, performance, and reliability. A 4-year technical degree or equivalent experience is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building web services in a modern programming language (Java strongly preferred; C# or Go also welcome).
• Experience deploying applications for the cloud, preferably AWS.
• Solid understanding of network protocols, HTTP, and REST API design.
• Experience designing and working with distributed systems.
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases.
• Experience with scale, performance optimization, and fault tolerance.
• Experience with test automation patterns and frameworks.
• Continuous learning mindset and enthusiasm for AI.

Responsibilities

• Own your services end-to-end — design, development, testing, operations, and production monitoring.
• Create and maintain REST APIs (Java/Spring), customer dashboards (React), and AWS infrastructure powering the Numbers platform.
• Lead solutions from start to finish, collaborating across teams to ship value that meets customer and business needs.
• Identify and solve scaling problems through software and infrastructure optimization for high availability.
• Mentor junior and mid-level developers through code reviews and design discussions.
• Partner with product owners and stakeholders to translate requirements into maintainable solutions.
• Use AI as a core engineering tool daily for code generation, design exploration, debugging, and documentation.
