Qualifications

For our client, we are seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Backend - Overseer (Platform) to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space.

This role will focus on building and scaling backend systems that protect the correctness and integrity of high-volume financial transactions. You will own end-to-end technical workstreams from design through production, partnering closely with cross-functional teams to translate financial rules into reliable system behavior. The position also blends distributed systems engineering with proactive detection capabilities, helping strengthen operational safeguards across the platform.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $186,065 - $218,900 annually

Responsibilities

• Build and scale real-time integrity enforcement systems for financial transactions
• Own complete workstreams from design to production in financial correctness
• Develop AI-driven models to proactively identify potential integrity issues
• Collaborate with multiple teams to translate financial rules into enforceable system invariants
• Mentor junior engineers on distributed systems and production best practices

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in large-scale distributed systems, especially in financial systems and payments
• Proficiency in backend languages like Go, Ruby, or Python
• Proven ability to manage workstreams independently in dynamic environments
• Experience with streaming data technologies like Kafka or Spark
• Familiarity with distributed databases such as Postgres or DynamoDB
• Knowledge of responsible AI usage in operational contexts
