Job summary

Travelers is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to advance our technology landscape. You will perform end-to-end engineering across systems, design and develop software, and lead initiatives with cross-functional teams.

You will consult with users to define specifications, manage resources, and provide SME guidance across multiple applications and technologies. The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of software development and proven leadership, with strong experience in cloud (AWS/Azure), API

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, related STEM field
• 6+ years software engineering experience
• Five years of programming/development experience
• Proven experience in leading software engineering teams
• Proficiency with REST and GraphQL APIs
• Familiarity with IaC tools like Terraform or AWS CDK
• Experience with React.js and/or Node.js
• Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, or Python
• Knowledge of Kafka and analytics for observability
• Experience with relational (DB2, MySQL, PostgreSQL) and document databases (MongoDB, DynamoDB)
• Experience with automated testing (NUnit/XUnit, Moq, Jest, Cypress)
• Proficiency with Git/GitHub and CI/CD pipelines
• Understanding OAuth 2.0 / OIDC
• Agile/Scrum tools like Jira or Rally

Responsibilities

• Perform complex analysis, advanced design, configuration and develop functions for high-visibility tasks
• Lead and implement solutions to moderately complex problems aligned with team goals
• Deliver efforts independently and by guiding other team members
• Lead investigations for critical incidents and drive resolutions
• Act as a technology advocate to improve business outcomes
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship within a team
• Apply current industry trends to devise solutions within assigned efforts
