Job summary

Valar Atomics seeks a Senior Software Engineer to build the operating system for its advanced nuclear software platform. You will work with reactor, manufacturing, licensing, and operations teams to design scalable tooling and data models that accelerate design and manufacturing.

Based in Torrance, CA with regular travel to the Utah pilot site, you will lead design reviews, mentor engineers, and apply AI coding agents to improve delivery while ensuring regulator-ready records and robust

Qualifications

• 7+ years in software engineering, production deployments.
• Proficient in typed and untyped languages (e.g., Java/C#/Go and Python/JS).
• Experience designing scalable systems and driving cross-team technical decisions.
• End-to-end web app development including UI.
• Cloud, containers, infrastructure as code, CI/CD experience.
• Strong CS fundamentals: algorithms, data structures, data modeling.
• Experience with AI coding agents and reviewing agent outputs.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build full-stack software systems and infrastructure.
• Create fast web interfaces for engineers and operators.
• Integrate PLM, ERP, MES, and other systems via REST/GraphQL and messaging.
• Develop tooling to automate document handling and maintain traceability.
• Own deployment, observability, and on-call for services.
