Job summary

Valar Atomics in Torrance, California, seeks a Senior Software Engineer to build the operating system for our nuclear energy platform. You will collaborate with reactor and manufacturing teams to understand workflows and create tooling that accelerates design and operations.

You will design scalable systems, ship end-to-end web apps, and own deployment, observability, and AI-assisted development tools. This role offers impact, ownership, and opportunities to grow with a fast-moving energy

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software development and production deployment.
• Experience with typed and untyped languages.
• Designing scalable systems and driving technical decisions.
• End-to-end web apps development including UI.
• Cloud deployment, IaC, and CI/CD experience.
• Strong CS fundamentals: algorithms, data structures, data modeling.
• Shipping AI coding agents with quality judgments.
• Excellent communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build full-stack systems powering reactor design and plant operations.
• Create rich web interfaces for engineers and operators and iterate with users.
• Integrate PLM/ERP/MES with REST/GraphQL and message queues.
• Develop tooling to automate document handling and ensure traceability.
• Own deployment, observability, and CI/CD with IaC and on-call support.
• Design data models and interfaces across engineering, manufacturing, and quality records.
• Diagnose and resolve issues across client, service, data, and network layers.
• Collaborate with AI tools and verify their outputs for accuracy.
