Job summary

Lumen is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, test, and debug software within an agile team. You’ll work on solutions across multiple disciplines, produce documented requirements, and deliver scalable systems that meet performance and reliability targets.

The role emphasizes collaboration with business partners, automated testing, and active code reviews. Ideal candidates have strong Java/GoLang skills, experience with Temporal Workflow and Oracle RDBMS, and proficiency in cloud

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience (Computer Science or similar is preferred). 4+ years with a master’s degree.
• Working knowledge of software development methodologies, standards, and coding best practices.
• Experience with Agile practices, planning, grooming, sprint management and daily standups.
• Experience with GoLang and Java.
• Experience with Temporal Workflow.
• Experience with Oracle RDBMS, writing PL/SQL.
• Experience with Unix/Linux shell scripting.
• REST API Services is a plus.
• Fluent with frameworks such as Spring Boot, Spring Framework, Hibernate/JPA, Kafka, RESTful Web Services and JUnit/TestNG.
• Cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and related services like AKS, Logic Apps, Service Bus.
• Experience using AI developer tools to write high-quality code.
• Experience developing scalable high-performance systems for large data volumes.
• Strong problem-solving, time management, written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in telecommunications is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Partners in an Agile Scrum team environment to design, develop, code, test, debug and support in production new software or significant enhancements to existing software.
• Work closely with business partners and technical staff to create technical solutions that meet business and technical requirements.
• Collaborates with product developers to define and implement automated tests.
• Documents own work to promote transparency and reuse.
• Builds production-quality enterprise-grade systems that meet SLAs for scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Actively participates in code-review process.
• Prioritizes and handles multiple concurrent projects and efforts.
• Demonstrates accountability for successful completion of assignments and tasks.
