Job summary

Surefire Cyber is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (AI Software and Ops) to build greenfield Python applications and own critical infrastructure. You will ship production software across the full stack, from Python backends to React frontends, on AWS, with Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines.

Report to the Head of Engineering in a fast-moving startup environment. You should thrive in ambiguity, prototype quickly, and contribute to agentic AI workflows while maintaining security and reliability

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering fundamentals with production-grade code.
• Full-stack capability across backend (Python, API design) and frontend (React).
• Production-level AWS experience, including VPC, EC2/ECS/Lambda, IAM, RDS, S3, and Kubernetes.
• Terraform proficiency as a primary tool.
• GitHub Actions or equivalent CI/CD pipeline experience at a production scale.
• Comfort operating with autonomy on a small team and shipping fast.
• Willingness to work beyond normal hours when needed.

Responsibilities

• Build greenfield Python applications using agentic methods.
• Architect multi-agent pipelines with role separation, context injection, and output validation.
• Integrate agentic systems with the org-wide knowledge store.
• Evaluate and adopt new agentic tooling and LLM capabilities.
• Design and implement services, RESTful and event-driven APIs, and data access layers.
• Own AWS infrastructure across environments and manage CI/CD via GitHub Actions.
• Ensure security and compliance align with Surefire's standards.
