Job summary

Kaizen is recruiting a senior software engineer to join a small team building AI-native government platforms. You will work on intelligent intake flows, AI-powered case routing, and constituent-facing portals that modernize decades-old interfaces.

You will shape technical direction and mentor teammates while delivering high-impact features. You’ll collaborate with design leadership and federal agency stakeholders to translate real-world needs into reliable software.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional engineering experience, owning complex features and systems.
• Fluency in React/Next.js and Node.js/TypeScript; fast and reliable.
• Experience with AI coding tools (Cursor, Copilot, Claude) and shipping with them.
• Have shipped a product or open source project you’re proud of.
• Able to operate well under ambiguity and drive toward answers.
• Care about user experience and how others interact with the product.

Responsibilities

• Own full-stack features from scoping to shipped product.
• Work on AI-powered surfaces: intake flows, routing, dashboards.
• Engage with federal agency stakeholders to translate needs into product.
• Ensure platform reliability and performance at government scale.
• Provide technical direction and set coding standards for the team.
• Mentor earlier-career engineers through code reviews and pairing.
