Job summary

Kaizen Labs is seeking a senior software engineer to build AI-native government software in a fast-moving environment. You’ll own high-leverage features, mentor teammates, and drive technical direction while working directly with federal agency stakeholders.

You’ll pair with design leadership focused on craft and ship products that meet real-world needs. Expect a governance-heavy, impact-driven role in a hybrid setup in New York City or Washington, DC.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional engineering experience, owning complex features and systems.
• Fluency with React/Next.js and Node.js/TypeScript/Postgres.
• Experience shipping in AI-enabled workflows and using AI tooling (Cursor, Claude, Copilot).

Responsibilities

• Own full-stack features from scoping to shipped product.
• Build AI-powered surfaces: intake flows, real-time assistants, automated routing.
• Engage with federal agency stakeholders to translate requirements into deliverables.
• Ensure platform reliability and performance at governmental scale.
• Set technical direction and mentor teammates.
• Provide constructive code reviews and foster best practices.
