Job summary

General Motors Company in Warren, MI is seeking a Supervisor for the GM OneOps team to lead a software development group that digitizes manufacturing operations and aligns strategy with plant needs. You will drive delivery of full-stack applications and integrations, partnering with stakeholders to translate challenges into prioritized solutions and production-ready software.

This is a hands-on leadership role (about 75% technical contribution and 25% people leadership) with travel up to 25%

Qualifications

• Experience leading, supervising, coaching, or providing technical leadership to a software development team.
• Ability to translate stakeholder needs into product roadmaps, requirements, and delivery plans.
• Ability to prioritize and deliver multiple initiatives in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
• Experience designing, developing, deploying, and supporting enterprise software applications, with knowledge of SDLC, Agile, and production operations.
• Practical experience with Python, React, or comparable modern development technologies.
• Experience working with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL.
• Experience using GitHub and project management tools such as Azure DevOps (ADO) or Jira.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity and accelerate solution delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing software development team while fostering technical excellence and continuous learning.
• Collaborate with plant teams, executives, staff engineers, and principal engineers to align manufacturing needs with technology solutions.
• Translate complex operational challenges into prioritized software solutions balancing business value, technical risk, and delivery commitments.
• Guide the full software development lifecycle from discovery to deployment and production support.
• Create delivery plans, manage dependencies, remove blockers, and coordinate across software, manufacturing, architecture, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and program management teams.
• Provide technical leadership, promote engineering best practices, and communicate progress, risks, and decisions to leadership and partners.
• Foster a culture of innovation, adaptability, and continuous improvement.
• Build strategic relationships across software, manufacturing, and program management for future initiatives.
