Job summary

Black Canyon Consulting (BCC) is seeking a Senior Software Developer to support NIH/NLM projects, focusing on Java and Python. The role is full-time, located at the NIH campus in Bethesda, MD, with remote work options.

The ideal candidate will contribute to the Human Variation product line, including dbSNP, dbVAR, ALFA, and dbGaP on FHIR, collaborating with an agile team and TPM/Tech Lead to meet delivery schedules and compliance requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master of Science in Computer Science, Information Technology or Engineering or equivalent work experience.
• 3+ years of Linux development experience.
• Proficiency in Java, Python, and SQL.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated tests.

Responsibilities

• Build robust, performant, user-facing web applications in Python/Django supporting millions of daily users.
• Develop, ship new functionality for user interaction and scientific data backend using modern APIs and frameworks.
• Collaborate in an Agile product team to deliver an exceptional user experience.
• Deliver responsive, accessible, mobile-friendly code with automated tests, builds and deploys.
