Job summary

Black Canyon Consulting is seeking a Sr. Full Stack Developer to support the NCBI at NIH/NLM. The role is full-time with onsite options at Bethesda, MD and remote work available.

The candidate will work on Python/Django web applications serving millions of users and contribute to backend services and front-end integration. The ideal applicant has 5+ years in full stack development, strong Python/Django experience, and solid knowledge of databases, security, and accessibility.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science or a related scientific field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of full stack web application development, 3+ years in Python/Django.
• Proficiency in at least one of Python, Kotlin, Java.
• Experience with relational database modeling and data migration.
• Understanding of accessibility and security compliance.
• Experience with version control systems like Git or SVN.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain robust, performant, user-facing web applications in Python/Django supporting millions of daily users.
• Develop and ship new functionality for user interaction and scientific data backend, using modern APIs and frameworks.
• Build efficient backend components using Python, and integrate front-end components.
• Develop and maintain test suites, monitor applications for performance, security and accessibility compliance.
• Work as part of an agile product team to deliver a great user experience.
• Deliver responsive, accessible, mobile-friendly code with automated tests and deployments.
• Lead and contribute to code development standards, reviews, and process improvements.
• Mentor and train junior developers.
