Job summary

Shield AI is seeking a senior software engineer for the Special Projects team under the Office of the CTO in the United States. You will design generative AI experiences to accelerate autonomy development and lead UX for Hivemind Generative AI, working across Commander and Design to enhance product usability.

You will conduct user research, study competitive products, and communicate findings to engineering and product leadership, while navigating ambiguity and travel 1–3 times per quarter.

Qualifications

• 15+ years experience developing large, production-quality software systems.
• Strong proficiency in mainstream languages (Typescript, C++, Go, Python, Rust).
• Experience with Git and code management; good hygiene with tests and bug tracking.
• 5+ years React/Node/Typescript/Javascript development.
• 5+ years Web applications development (Front-End or Full-Stack).
• Deep understanding of full-stack web development (DOM, browser APIs, Websockets, SSE, SPA routing).
• Multi-modal input handling; experience with client-side LLM Context Management.
• Linux, Docker, CI/CD experience.
• Hands-on cloud platform experience (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Travel to Shield AI location 1-3 times per quarter.

Responsibilities

• Design and prototype generative AI experience focused on accelerating autonomy development
• Collaborate with Office of the CTO to crystallize Hivemind vision and documentation
• Lead the user experience design of Hivemind Generative AI
• Coordinate with Hivemind Commander and Design teams to enhance UX
• Conduct user research to understand personas and needs
• Investigate competing products and present insights to leadership
