Job summary

Shield AI is seeking a Senior or Staff Software Engineer to join the Developer Experience Engineering team. You will design, build, and operate tools that improve end‑to‑end development for Hivemind, advance local workflows, devcontainers, and internal platforms while exploring agentic AI capabilities in tooling.

You’ll collaborate with engineers to reduce friction, drive adoption through documentation, and influence technical direction at scale, including cross‑team initiatives for Staff level.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software engineering experience or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience owning software from initial design through deployment, operation, adoption, and continuous improvement.
• Experience with AWS and cloud‑native development practices.
• Proficiency in one or more relevant languages (Python, Go, JavaScript/TypeScript).
• Experience building or operating internal developer platforms or developer portals.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate tools and platforms that improve the end‑to‑end Hivemind developer experience.
• Advance local development workflows, devcontainers, internal developer platforms, and project templates.
• Bring agentic AI capabilities into developer tools and workflows with measurable value.
• Partner with engineering teams to identify needs, reduce friction, and improve productivity.
• Enable co‑development and inner‑source collaboration through accessible tooling and standards.
• Drive tool adoption through guidance, feedback, and clear communication of value.
• Own solutions from discovery through deployment and continuous improvement.
• Use metrics and feedback to guide investment and technical direction.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and cross‑team initiatives.
