Job summary

AheadComputing, Inc. is seeking an experienced power and thermal modelling engineer to build product-level models and drive design decisions. The role focuses on translating component data into actionable power envelopes and temperature limits, supported by workload-driven analyses.

You will set operating targets, develop robust tooling, and collaborate with CPU teams to ensure models reflect real silicon behavior and guide trade-offs for performance and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 5+ years in power modelling, power and thermal analysis, or related discipline.
• Working understanding of power and thermal fundamentals — dynamic and leakage power, supply droop, di/dt, thermal limits.
• Demonstrated experience building models from component-level data and defending results.
• Proficiency in Python for modelling, data analysis and automation.
• Clear written communication; models used by others to understand limits.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain product-level power and thermal models from component-level inputs.
• Model power delivery network behaviour and translate into sustainable operating points.
• Set and hold TDP envelopes, typical and peak operating points, and all-core frequency targets.
• Run workload-driven power analysis using benchmarks and traces.
• Produce sensitivity studies showing architectural levers that move power and by how much.
• Correlate projections against measured silicon and feed back into model fidelity.
• Supply power numbers to architecture trade-off studies to influence outcomes.
• Build tooling, assumptions and documentation so models are usable by non-authors.
