Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) is seeking a Senior Power Modeling Engineer in Austin, TX, to drive pre-silicon power modeling for Embedded x86 SoCs. You will create use-case power models, translate workloads into inputs, and work with architecture, IP, performance, and validation teams to guide PPA decisions.

The role emphasizes SoC-level modeling with inputs from IPs, VF curves, and DVFS state analyses, ensuring accurate power projections and continual improvement.

Qualifications

  • BS/MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering is required.
  • Experience in power modeling and power estimation is required.
  • Strong scripting skills, Python preferred.
  • Ability to communicate modeling assumptions to senior technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Develop SoC-level power models from IP inputs for Embedded x86 platforms.
  • Build VF curves and validate EDC/TDC/current limits across corners.
  • Integrate IP-level models into SoC-level frameworks and ensure consistency.
  • Influence architectural decisions with power, performance, and area trade-offs.
  • Support pre-silicon to post-silicon correlation and model refinement.
