Job summary

Nationwide is seeking a Snowflake Data Engineer (Python / Snowpark) to join the Finance & Investments Technology team in Columbus, OH. The role emphasizes enterprise-scale data warehousing, data ingestion, and scalable ELT pipelines using Snowflake, dbt, and modern cloud services.

The candidate will design standards for data architecture, collaborate with architecture, security, governance, and product leaders, and optimize performance while controlling costs in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in Snowflake data engineering and architecture.
• Strong SQL, Python (PySpark/Snowpark) skills and dbt tooling.
• Knowledge of RBAC, time travel, and performance tuning.
• Hands-on cloud experience (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Experience with data warehousing and large-scale pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise-scale data warehousing and cloud integration strategies on Snowflake.
• Define standards for ingestion, transformation, orchestration, and performance tuning.
• Build scalable ELT pipelines using Snowflake features (Snowpipe, Streams, Tasks, Snowpark).
• Model data with Dim/Hub approaches and dbt implementations.
• Optimize queries and manage warehouse costs via clustering and caching.
• Integrate Airflow or Prefect for complex job scheduling.
• Collaborate with DevSecOps and CI/CD tooling (JIRA, Jenkins, Confluence).
• Develop and test data quality and automate testing pipelines.
