Job summary

Afognak Native Corporation is seeking a seasoned Safety Inspector to lead site health and safety programs across major industrial projects in the United States. You will ensure OSHA, HAZWOPER, and EM-385-1-1 compliance and develop method statements for establishing a Safety Department.

The role requires extensive field inspections, incident investigations, and training of staff, with out-of-hours support as needed. A Secret clearance and SSHO Level 1 certification are required.

Qualifications

• Secret Clearance required.
• Degree in Environmental Health and Safety or current OSHA 10/30, HAZWOPER 40, EM-385-1-1 certification.
• Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) Level 1.
• Minimum fifteen (15) years’ experience in safety roles on major industrial or construction projects.
• Minimum five (5) years as a Safety Inspector.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor site health and safety programs per OSHA/HAZWOPER/EM-385-1-1 standards.
• Conduct routine health and safety inspections and audits.
• Investigate incidents and recommend corrective actions.
• Train staff on safety procedures and maintain compliance records.
• Duties include office work and field safety inspections; emergencies may require out-of-hours response.
• Ability to walk, stand, and inspect various facility and construction environments.
