Job summary

Aurora is seeking a highly experienced Test Engineer to lead test methodologies, automation, and test infrastructure for silicon photonics and advanced optoelectronic products. This role combines photonics expertise, hardware test development, Python software automation, and data analysis to deliver scalable, production-ready test solutions.

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Photonics, Optical Engineering, or a related field.
• 6+ years hands-on experience in photonics, laser, semiconductor, or optoelectronic testing
• Proficiency in Python or similar object-oriented programming languages

Responsibilities

• Develop optimized automated routines to execute and analyze silicon photonics components (power, insertion loss, LIV sweeps, extinction ratio, bandwidth, coupling).
• Design and validate test hardware (fixtures, probe cards, PCBs) for R&D and high-volume manufacturing.
• Design software control systems, search algorithms, and machine vision tools to align optical components across axes and optimize coupling.
• Correlate measurement data with device behavior to monitor performance and drive yield improvements.
• Establish detailed test specifications, Gauge R&R studies, and calibration procedures for characterization stations.
• Set measurement best practices, calibration procedures, data quality checks, and documentation standards.
• Turn test results into actionable recommendations for laser design, integration, packaging, architecture, and reliability.
