Job summary

Apple Inc. in the San Francisco Bay Area is seeking a Silicon Photonics & Optical Packaging Engineer. You will lead silicon photonics packaging development, defining assembly baselines, and establishing optical coupling design and co-packaging solutions for high-volume production.

The role requires a strong optics background, hands-on assembly experience, and collaboration with vendors, foundries, and OSATs across international teams. Travel up to 5% is expected.

Qualifications

• BS and 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Preferred MS or PhD in Physics, Electrical/Materials/Mechanical engineering.
• Strong optics/photonics fundamentals with device integration.

Responsibilities

• Design and model silicon photonic devices and optical interconnects.
• Develop packaging architectures pairing photonic chips with fibers and electronics.
• Prototype, characterize and correlate simulations with measurements.
• Collaborate with process, electrical, mechanical and reliability teams.
• Document results and present technical findings for next-gen I/O.
