Job summary
Lone Star College seeks an Interpreter II to provide advanced Sign Language interpretation for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students, staff, and visitors across campuses. You will aim to maintain the highest professional standards in interpretation and collaborate with faculty to support accessible learning environments.
Requirements include a Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience or a suitable combination, and BEI Advanced certification or equivalent.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Active BEI Advanced certification or higher, or BEI-recognized equivalent certification.
- Reliable mode of transportation between assignments within the LSC Service Area.
Responsibilities
- Provide Sign Language translation (voice and signing) for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students, faculty, staff and visitors.
- Analyze source language content to accurately deliver information to the target audience.
- Mentor level one and part-time Interpreters.
- Coordinate with faculty to prepare for classroom sessions for both faculty and students.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to policies and procedures.
