Job summary

Lone Star College is seeking a PT Interpreter II to provide advanced-level sign language interpretation for students, faculty, staff and visitors who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing across multiple locations. The role supports compliance with ADA and Section 504, and emphasizes communication equity and professional conduct.

Responsibilities include mentoring junior interpreters, analyzing content for accurate interpretation, and maintaining confidentiality while working evenings or weekends as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of related work experience.
  • Active BEI Advanced certification or higher.
  • Reliable transportation to travel between assignments within the service area.

Responsibilities

  • Provides Sign Language translation (voice and signing) for Deaf or Hard of Hearing clients and for students, faculty, staff and administration.
  • Analyzes source language content to accurately deliver information to the target audience.
  • Mentors level one Interpreters and maintains confidentiality.
  • Participates in department meetings and seeks process improvements.
  • Attends assignments at various times/locations, including evenings and weekends.
