Job summary

Lone Star College seeks an Interpreter II to provide advanced-level sign language interpretation for students, faculty, staff and visitors, ensuring compliance with Section 504 and ADA. The role advances sign language proficiency to deliver high-quality services.

Requires a Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience and BEI Advanced certification; expects evening/weekend availability and travel within the service area; full-time with benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with at least 5 years of experience in interpretation or related field.
• Active BEI Advanced certification or higher (BEI-recognized).
• Sign language and English fluency with ability to preserve meaning and tone.

Responsibilities

• Provide sign language translation (voice and signing) for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
• Analyze source language content to accurately deliver meaning to the target audience.
• Mentor level one and part-time interpreters.
• Attend ASR department meetings and perform administrative duties as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and ensure professional conduct.
