Job summary

Siemens AG in the United States is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer for Siemens PLCs to join our automation engineering team in Alabama. This hybrid role splits time between a home office and our Vance, AL facility, supporting major automotive customers.

You will design, program, test, and commission automation systems, integrating Siemens SIMATIC PLC/HMI software and ensuring performance and safety from concept to startup and handover. Travel up to 50% is required.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical/Automation engineering.
5+ years in industrial automation and controls engineering.
Proven Siemens SIMATIC PLC and HMI programming experience (STEP 7, TIA Portal, WinCC).
Advanced experience with assembly/conveyor systems and process equipment.
Knowledge of industrial safety systems (e.g., SICK PLS).
Familiarity with PROFINET and motion-control technologies.
Proficient English communication; willingness to travel up to 50%.
Legal US work authorization without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

Design, program, test, and commission automation systems based on Siemens SIMATIC platforms.
Integrate control software with electrical and mechanical systems in automotive production equipment.
Plan and execute commissioning of components and full automation systems at customer sites.
Program assembly/conveyor systems and process equipment.
Troubleshoot and optimize system performance; ensure safety and reliability.
Prepare commissioning documentation and test reports; participate in system acceptance testing.
Train customer personnel and hand over commissioned systems; support or lead on-site teams as required.
