Job summary

5-10+ years of shipping, receiving, warehouse operations, logistics, or supply chain experience in a manufacturing or chemical environment.
DOT Hazardous Materials Shipping Certification.
Hazardous Materials Transportation Certification.
IATA Dangerous Goods Certification.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and oversee all inbound and outbound shipments to support production schedules, inventory requirements, and customer delivery commitments.
Serve as the primary shipping and receiving subject matter expert, providing guidance and support to shipping personnel, warehouse staff, and cross-functional teams.
Lead daily logistics activities, ensuring timely execution of shipping, receiving, material movement, and transportation functions.
Schedule and manage carriers, freight providers, pickups, deliveries, export shipments, and dock appointments to optimize service levels and transportation efficiency.
Monitor transportation performance metrics, analyze freight trends, and recommend improvements to reduce costs, improve service levels, and increase operational efficiency.
Receive and verify raw materials, packaging materials, maintenance supplies, equipment, and vendor shipments against purchase orders, specifications, bills of lading, and shipping documentation.
Investigate and resolve shipment discrepancies, inventory variances, freight claims, damaged materials, shortages, and customer delivery issues while coordinating corrective actions with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Maintain ownership of shipping, receiving, and inventory transactions within ERP and warehouse management systems, ensuring data accuracy and inventory integrity.
Coordinate and prioritize shipment schedules to align with production plans, customer requirements, and inventory replenishment strategies.
Prepare, review, and approve shipping documentation including bills of lading, packing lists, certificates of analysis, export documentation, hazardous material paperwork, and customer-specific shipping requirements.
Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, EPA, international shipping regulations, import/export requirements, and company transportation policies.
Act as the facility lead for hazardous material shipping activities, ensuring proper classification, packaging, labeling, documentation, and employee training compliance.
Lead cycle counts, physical inventory activities, inventory reconciliations, and inventory accuracy initiatives to support operational excellence.
Develop and maintain key shipping and logistics performance indicators, including on-time delivery, freight cost, inventory accuracy, dock utilization, carrier performance, and shipping cycle times.
Collaborate closely with Production, Quality, Procurement, Planning, Customer Service, Sales, Operations, and Supply Chain leadership to proactively address material flow challenges and customer requirements.
Assist management with transportation budgeting activities, freight spend analysis, carrier evaluations, and logistics cost reduction initiatives.
Support warehouse and shipping process improvements through root cause analysis, corrective actions, workflow optimization, and implementation of best practices.
Maintain organized shipping and receiving operations that support audit readiness, regulatory compliance, traceability requirements, and customer expectations.
Assist with training, onboarding, and mentoring of shipping and warehouse personnel while promoting standard work and operational consistency.
Support implementation of new logistics systems, inventory controls, process improvements, and facility expansion initiatives.
Participate in audits, inspections, customer visits, and compliance reviews related to transportation, inventory control, and warehouse operations.
Promote a culture of safety, accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence within the shipping and receiving function.
Participate in safety meetings, incident investigations, corrective action reviews, and risk mitigation activities.
Perform other duties, special projects, and leadership assignments as required.
