Job summary

Serco Inc. is seeking an Advanced Marine Welder to support US Navy ships, including welding, fabrication, and C5ISR system installations aboard vessels and in shipyard environments. You will review blueprints, cut and fit metal, and ensure high safety standards while working in Chesapeake, VA with potential travel.

The role requires a minimum of 5 years shipboard welding, U.S. citizenship, and the ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance.

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of shipboard welding experience.
US citizenship and ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance.
High School Diploma or GED.
Able to access NAVSTA & DBIDS shipyards; pass background and drug screen.
Complete Serco Welding Procedures qualifications within 30 days.
Own tools and pass pre-certification weld test.
Respirator qualification and proper PPE.
Familiarity with NAVSEA and related electrical repair, fabrication, and installation.
Willingness to travel up to 10%.
Onsite work in Chesapeake, VA.

Responsibilities

Assemble or repair metal components using heavy machinery and torching.
Review blueprints and cut metal to shape.
Smooth metal to remove creases and finish surfaces.
Climb shipyard stairs, kneel for cable layout, lift up to 50 lbs; up to 40 lbs for most of shift.
May train personnel on machinery tools and test equipment.
