This position reports to:

Field Service Manager

Your role and responsibilities:

In this role, you will execute service work of medium to high complexity according to work instructions and ABB guidelines. You will deliver excellent customer service, identify opportunities in the installed base to improve system and operational performance, and showcase your expertise by working directly with customers.

This Senior Service Engineer position is based in Des Moines, IA, with a work model: #LI - Remote. You will contribute to the ABB Electrification Division - Services Function, serving both external and internal customers.

You will be mainly accountable for:

1. Providing knowledge and conducting work activities in compliance with ABB HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment), ABB Way, Safety Manual, and Safety policies.
2. Executing projects including startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, engineering, design, and repair of Power Delivery equipment such as transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, busways, UPS, ATS, PLCs, relays, and controls.
3. Leading outages with other engineers, technicians, and contractors, managing projects, and performing administrative tasks like technical reports, material orders, quotations, job and expense reports.
4. Planning and performing multifunctional field assignments, directing work of other engineers and labor as required.
5. Expanding technical knowledge and industry standards recognition.
6. Developing and instructing internal and external training programs related to field engineering and product knowledge.
7. Completing administrative functions related to your work thoroughly and promptly.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or High School Diploma/GED with 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of field engineering experience.
• Willingness to travel approximately 75%, with a valid passport and driver’s license.
• Knowledge of the industrial customer base in the geographical area.
• Technical skills in testing and troubleshooting power distribution equipment, including LV and MV circuit breakers, relays, and transformers.
• Experience with medium voltage synchronous machines, controls, and PLCs is a plus.
• Existing work authorization to work in the US for ABB.
