Qualifications

• 5+ years of user research experience in cross-functional teams
• Experience across design, engineering, policy, and operations to ship useful public services
• Understanding of language access and accessibility considerations for diverse populations
• Knowledge of Agile and translating research into user stories and backlog items

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct qualitative interviews, contextual inquiry, and usability tests with constituents and staff
• Create journey maps, service blueprints, and current/future state diagrams
• Translate research findings into personas, user stories, and backlog inputs
• Run workshops with agency staff to surface process pain points and service gaps
• Collaborate with Product Manager to align research with mission priorities
• Develop low-fidelity service prototypes to test with users before full implementation
• Run iterative tests to validate that designs solve identified issues
• Identify service success metrics and monitor outcomes
• Leverage web analytics or survey data to contextualize qualitative findings
