Job summary

Amazon Robotics seeks a Senior Sensor & Compute System Engineer to join the Matrix team. This cross-disciplinary SME role bridges customers, product strategy, architecture, and engineering execution across sensing and edge compute domains.

You will own end-to-end system definitions—from discovery through trade-offs to strategic advantage—shaping how next-generation robotic platforms perceive, process, and act on the world.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer science, mathematics or physics.
• Experience leading architecture and design of new and current systems.
• Experience defining requirements with technical and product stakeholders.
• 8+ years of experience in systems engineering, sensor development, edge computing, or related technical roles.
• Proven track record of leading customer-facing technical engagements.
• Deep understanding of sensor technologies and edge compute architectures.

Responsibilities

• Own customer relationship as the senior technical contact and define requirements across sensing and compute.
• Define sensor and compute product roadmap with PMs and prioritize features.
• Lead system architecture across optical, electrical, mechanical, firmware, and edge compute domains.
• Drive on-device and near-sensor compute for real-time perception and data processing.
• Benchmark sensing and edge compute technologies and advise build-vs-buy decisions.
• Mentor engineers and influence across hardware, software, and manufacturing teams.
