Job summary

Amazon Robotics is seeking a Senior Sensor & Compute System Engineer to join the Matrix team. You will own end-to-end system definition from discovery to architecture trade-offs, shaping how our robotic platforms perceive, process, and act on the world.

You will drive architecture across sensing and edge compute, manage product roadmaps, mentor teams, and influence senior stakeholders with deep technical expertise and customer insight.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer science, mathematics or physics.
• Experience leading architecture and design of new/current systems or leading and influencing teams.
• Experience working with technical and product stakeholders to define requirements and influence roadmaps.
• 8+ years of systems engineering, sensor development, edge computing, or related roles.
• Proven track record of leading customer-facing technical engagements and translating needs into actionable requirements.
• Deep understanding of sensor technologies with edge compute architectures and real-time data pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Own the customer relationship as the senior technical point of contact and steer discovery engagements.
• Define sensor and compute product roadmap and prioritize features based on inputs from customers and market data.
• Lead system architecture across optical, electrical, mechanical, firmware, and edge compute domains.
• Drive on-device and near-sensor compute architectures for real-time perception and data processing at the edge.
• Oversee benchmarking and technology scouting; recommend build-vs-buy and investments.
• Identify technical risks and mitigations; communicate constraints to stakeholders.
• Mentor engineers and influence across hardware, firmware, software, and manufacturing teams.
