Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a mid- to senior-level Sediment Remediation Engineer to lead technical work on sediment remediation projects for Federal and Public sector clients. You will work independently and as part of a team, developing designs, evaluating remediation technologies, and communicating strategies to clients.

The role requires a Civil/Environmental/Chemical Engineering degree, a PE license, and about 7 years of related experience, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional engineering (PE) license.
• 7 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required. Travel frequency depends on duties and project needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide expertise in evaluating sediment remediation technologies and designs for riverine, coastal, riparian/floodplain and/or port sites.
• Understand sediment transport, environmental site assessment, sampling/monitoring, cap modeling and remedial action construction.
• Support mathematical/statistical evaluations of environmental data.
• Serve as CDM Smith’s task manager on complex sediment sites and communicate strategies to clients.
• Hold in-depth knowledge of CERCLA, GLLA and related regulatory steps for contaminated sediments.
• Act as a technical liaison with clients, public, and outside consultants; translate complex concepts for non-experts.
• Lead staff in preparing and reviewing technical materials to ensure regulatory compliance.
