Job summary

M.C. Dean is seeking a Tech Specialist 3 to join the Security and Electronic Systems (SES) team in Tysons, VA. You will analyze performance, support administration, troubleshoot networks and systems, and coordinate with customers, vendors, and engineers to deliver secure, compliant electronic security solutions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma with 10+ years of experience in electronic security systems installation/testing.
• Associates with 8+ years experience or Bachelor's with 5+ years, or Master's with 3+ years.
• System administration experience: triage, problem resolution, and workstation extensions.
• Vendor certifications for electronic systems preferred.
• Willingness to travel and flexible schedule including nights/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Analyze system performance and recommend improvements.
• Provide support to the system administration team.
• Troubleshoot systems and operating systems using networking and admin skills.
• Communicate with customers, manufacturers, vendors and system admins.
• Train system users and other support personnel.
• Modify preventive maintenance checklists for system changes.
• Troubleshoot performance issues and implement corrective actions.
• Document system performance and service requests in detail.
• Set up desktop hardware, imaging software, and perform antivirus updates.
• Research and evaluate Techn Specialists' work to assess current and future systems.
• Provide on-site system support post deployment.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and SOWs.
• Ensure test lab equipment is maintained and aligned with design.
• Coordinate with field personnel and engineering on installation issues.
• Assist with installation concerns on-site and answer support calls.
• Research new system manufacturers (access control, intrusion detection, CCTV).
• Perform duties with minimal supervision.
• Design and oversight: review security designs and guide design teams.
• Risk assessments: identify vulnerabilities in tech, hardware, and architecture.
• Develop scopes of work for intrusion alarms, access control, VMS, and CCTV.
• Plan projects, track progress, and ensure on-time, within-budget delivery.
• Oversee system installation by coordinating with integrators and vendors.
• Manage commissioning and turnover: testing, acceptance, and training.
• Ensure compliance with local regulations and privacy standards; report progress.
