Job summary

Asana is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Security Development team in San Francisco. The role focuses on building durable, secure-by-default systems to protect Asana’s infrastructure and products.

You will help create guardrails that enable engineering teams to move quickly and safely. We expect 4+ years of software development experience, a background in security engineering, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in full-time software development.
• Background building platforms, libraries, or core infrastructure.
• Strong interest or experience in security engineering with preventative controls.
• Expertise in programming and CS fundamentals.
• Experience with cloud services, especially AWS.
• Excellent communication for collaboration across teams.
• Proactive mindset to eliminate systemic risks and learn new AI tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain secure-by-default frameworks and platforms.
• Engineer and improve core security services including access control and secrets management.
• Develop and own remediation tooling to address risks efficiently.
• Partner with product and infrastructure teams to implement foundational security controls.
• Advise on secure project implementations across design, development, launches, and incidents.
