Asana, a leading platform for human + AI collaboration, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Security Development team in San Francisco. The role focuses on building durable, secure-by-default platforms and preventing systemic security risks at scale.

You will help empower engineering teams to move fast and safely. The role emphasizes building platforms, libraries, and core infrastructure with strong security controls, AWS experience, and a proactive mindset.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software development in large codebases.
• Background in building platforms, libraries, or core infrastructure.
• Strong focus on security engineering with preventative controls.
• Solid programming fundamentals and CS knowledge.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, especially AWS.
• Excellent communication for cross-team collaboration.
• Curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain secure-by-default frameworks and platforms to prevent vulnerabilities.
• Engineer and improve core security services, including access control and secrets management.
• Develop and own the remediation platform, building tools to address risks.
• Partner with product and infrastructure teams to implement foundational security controls for cloud networking and compute.
• Advise on securing projects at all phases of design, development, launch, and incidents.
• Influence engineering initiatives through design reviews and security trade-offs.
