Asana in San Francisco is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the new Security Development team. You will build durable, secure‑by‑default guardrails to protect Asana's infrastructure and product, engineering preventative controls at scale.

This office‑centric hybrid role requires in‑person days Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, with Wednesdays remote and Fridays flexible depending on work. Competitive base salary between $202,000 and $230,000 plus benefits.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software development experience.
• Experience building platforms, libraries or core infrastructure.
• Strong security engineering focus with preventative controls.
• Experience with AWS and cloud services.
• Excellent cross‑functional communication.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain secure‑by‑default frameworks and platforms.
• Improve core security services, including access control and secrets management.
• Own the platform for vulnerability remediation and tooling.
• Partner with product/infrastructure to implement foundational security controls.
• Advise on secure project design, development, and incident response.
• Influence engineering through design reviews and security trade‑offs.
