Job summary

Asana is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Security Development team in San Francisco. You will design and build secure-by-default frameworks and platforms to prevent vulnerabilities at scale, while partnering with product and infrastructure teams to implement foundational security controls.

You will lead efforts in remediation tooling, access control, secrets management, and AWS permissions, influencing engineering decisions and driving secure delivery across projects.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in full-time professional software development, working with large codebases.
• Proven software engineering experience building platforms, libraries, or core infrastructure.
• Strong interest or direct experience in security engineering with a focus on preventative controls.
• Expertise in programming and computer science fundamentals.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and services, particularly AWS.
• Excellent communication skills for collaborating with engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain secure-by-default frameworks, libraries, and platforms to eliminate vulnerabilities.
• Engineer and improve core security services, including access control, secrets management, and AWS permissions systems.
• Develop and own the platform for vulnerability remediation and tooling for engineering teams to address risks.
• Partner with product and infrastructure teams to architect and implement foundational security controls for Asana's cloud/network compute infrastructure.
• Collaborate with product teams to advise on securing projects across stages from design to incident response.
• Influence engineering initiatives through design reviews and clear communication of security trade-offs.
