Asana is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Security Development team in San Francisco. You will help build durable, secure-by-default guardrails and platforms to protect our infrastructure and product, working across engineering teams to reduce systemic risk.

Ideal candidates bring 4+ years of full-time software development experience, a background in building core infrastructure, and strong AWS knowledge.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in full-time professional software development.
• Experience building platforms, libraries, or core infrastructure.
• Strong interest or experience in security engineering, building preventative controls.
• Expertise in programming and computer science fundamentals.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and AWS.
• Excellent communication skills across engineering teams.
• Proactive mindset for eliminating systemic risks.
• Curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain secure-by-default frameworks, libraries, and platforms to eliminate vulnerabilities.
• Engineer and improve core security services, including access control and secrets management.
• Develop and own the vulnerability remediation platform and tooling.
• Partner with product and infra teams to implement foundational security controls.
• Advise on security across design, development, launch, and incidents.
• Influence initiatives through design reviews and security trade-offs.
