Job summary

Empire State Realty Trust, based in New York City, seeks an Assistant Director of Security to develop and manage safety programs for the Empire State Building, Observation Deck, and ESRT properties.

This 24/7 role collaborates with security personnel, facilities, IT, tenants, and public safety to ensure reliable operations and prompt incident response. Strong leadership and security expertise are essential for protecting iconic assets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in security management, criminal justice, emergency management, business, or related field.
• Progressive experience in corporate/commercial security operations.
• Knowledge of security tech: access control, video, incident reporting.

Responsibilities

• Serve as operational delegate to the Director of Security and exercise delegated authority when required.
• Oversee contracted security program, including management of personnel, SOC, and visitor services.
• Review staffing, post coverage, shift and incident reports; address gaps and follow up.
• Conduct property walkthroughs, respond to tenant concerns, and translate findings into actions.
• Lead or support security incident reviews, investigations, and reporting with appropriate parties.
• Oversee SOC operations and the security technology stack (video, alarms, analytics).
• Coordinate security planning for events, VIP visits, and public-safety coordination.
• Support training, preparedness, and documentation updates.
