Job summary

Empire State Realty Trust, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Director of Security to support the Director of Security in developing, implementing, and managing safety and security programs for the Empire State Building, Observatory Deck, and ESRT properties in a 24/7 environment.

You will collaborate with contracted security, property management, IT, tenants, vendors, and public-safety partners to ensure reliable systems, prompt incident response, and coordinated event coverage, while overseeing

Qualifications

• Ability to support emergency action and crisis-management plans, assess changing conditions, and make sound operational decisions under pressure within delegated authority.
• Demonstrated experience overseeing third-party security services and holding service providers accountable for staffing, performance, documentation, training, and corrective action.
• Ability to assess incidents, lead or coordinate investigations, preserve confidential information, and write clear reports and recommendations.
• Practical knowledge of SOC operations, access control, video systems, visitor management, and security analytics.
• Strong communication and service judgment with tenants, executives, contractors, employees, vendors, and public-safety partners.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Director of Security's operational delegate and escalate as needed.
• Oversee contracted security program, including SOC, visitor services, and specialty services.
• Review staffing, post coverage, and incident reports; address gaps and schedule follow-up.
• Conduct property walkthroughs and translate findings into actions or requests.
• Oversee the Security Operations Center and camera systems; ensure readiness.
• Attend meetings with managers on duties and responsibilities; daily equipment training.
• Ensure personnel wear ESRT uniforms and adhere to standards.
• Lead security incident reviews; preserve evidence and coordinate with authorities.
