Elastic, the Search AI Company, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Elasticsearch Security team. You will help architect and design Elasticsearch’s security features, focusing on authentication, authorization, and tenant isolation, and work with engineering and product leaders to deliver high-performance security at scale.

You will drive foundational security models, optimize performance in distributed environments, and collaborate across teams to embed security in new customer

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of Java internals and JVM memory management.
• Experience building scalable authorization systems across distributed services.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems security concepts.
• Knowledge of edge identity protocols—OAuth 2.0 and SAML.
• Proven ability to leverage AI to accelerate development and debugging.
• Ability to collaborate across teams and transition between projects.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to core security initiatives from architecture to production for Elasticsearch core engine.
• Develop foundational security models for features.
• Optimize security performance in distributed systems.
• Apply cryptographic solutions to customer use cases.
• Ensure data isolation within shared infrastructure for multiple tenants.
