Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. seeks a Senior Software Development Engineer to lead and shape software strategy for the MONA in-house systems powering a 1M+ device network.

You will design, build, and own controllers, SDN, and planning software at fleet scale, mentoring engineers and guiding architecture. You will collaborate with management to set roadmaps, ensure robust tests and observability, and drive on-call incident response while delivering high-impact improvements across data-center

Qualifications

• 7+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 7+ years of programming experience in at least one language.
• 7+ years of leading design or architecture of systems.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Partner with engineering leadership to shape software strategy, roadmaps, and architecture for fleet-scale systems.
• Design and build in-house systems—controllers, SDN, planning software—with scalable, well-tested solutions.
• Own and evolve controller for agentic network auto-remediation to detect and resolve issues automatically.
• Build planning software that configures data-center capacity, racks, and ports, and deploys network fabric.
• Own out-of-band management services including serial console access and secure connectivity.
• Drive correctness, safety, and observability for production automation.
• Lead design reviews, raise code quality standards, and mentor engineers.
• Participate in on-call and incident response leadership.
