Job summary

Syms Strategic Group, LLC is seeking a Software Developer in Test (SDET). This 100% remote role supports the Veterans Affairs department. The candidate should have strong programming skills across C#, Java, or Python, plus extensive experience across automated/manual testing, Agile/Scrum, and SDLC.

A Public Trust (MBI) clearance is required, and U.S. citizenship is stated. This is a full-time W2 position with a salary range of $85,389 - $116,975.

Qualifications

• Must have strong programming skills in C#, Java, or Python.
• Proven track record on complex software projects with high-quality deliverables.
• Experience in both manual and automated testing.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum and SDLC understanding.
• Proficiency in writing/executing test cases, scripts, and plans.
• Knowledge of test automation frameworks and tools (Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, QTP, LoadRunner).
• Experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions).
• Familiarity with version control systems (Git, Subversion).
• Understanding of performance testing tools (JMeter, Gatling).
• Experience with defect tracking (JIRA, Bugzilla).
• Knowledge of SQL and databases for validating data.
• Experience testing web apps, APIs, and services.
• Understanding of security testing practices and tools.
• Experience with various testing types: functional, regression, integration, system, usability, and UAT.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; strong communication and collaboration abilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test plans, cases, and procedures to ensure standards and user requirements.
• Develop test plans, schedules, and approach.
• Write test cases/scripts and identify data for test scenarios.
• Conduct walkthroughs with test managers and leads.
• Lead tests and IT systems to ensure proper operation and defect-free delivery.
• Verify work products using defined methods and environment.
• Document and communicate test results; support issue resolution.
• Create daily test metrics and reports.
• Perform other IT systems engineering activities as needed.
• Provide technical solutions to complex problems; ensure alignment with objectives.
