Job summary

Lightmatter is seeking an experienced SDET who will own the firmware test automation framework across products and sites. You will design and build automation for new firmware features and hardware with production-grade standards, and operate bench-scale HIL test infrastructure with CI orchestration on real photonic hardware.

You will define test strategies, lead reviews, and ensure tests run automatically in CI/CD by flashing and validating on hardware, while tracking reliability and triage

Qualifications

• 8+ years in professional software development, focused on embedded products and test infra.
• Strong Python for fixtures, abstractions, hardware drivers, and plugins.
• Fluent in embedded C/C++ reading firmware drivers and state machines.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture and roadmap of the firmware test automation framework across products and teams.
• Design and build stable automation for new firmware features and hardware with production-grade quality.
• Build and operate HIL test infrastructure and CI orchestration on real hardware.
• Define test strategy, plans, and reporting; lead reviews across teams.
• Integrate firmware testing into CI/CD so changes are built, flashed, and exercised on hardware.
• Own framework reliability, flaky test metrics, and telemetry/log pipelines.
• Debug failures across firmware, board, instrument, and test code; collaborate to resolve.
